可是當(dāng)其他廠商還在沉迷于傳統(tǒng)存儲的理念,專注于制造巨無霸式的存儲時,我們已經(jīng)在革新存儲理念,3年前就推出了創(chuàng)新的存儲科技,將存儲控制器與磁盤柜分開,通過存儲內(nèi)置的虛擬化引擎掛接其他的存儲,所有存儲整合為一個虛擬的存儲池,消除了設(shè)備之間的物理差異,池中的所有資源被統(tǒng)一管理,統(tǒng)一使用,按需分配,被廣大媒體稱頌為存儲的發(fā)展趨勢,并立為新一代智能存儲的標(biāo)桿
At Hitachi, we say “the future is here!,” the separation of storage controller from the disk array.
If you take a look at this image, it is a depiction of Hitachi’s USP flagship multi-cabinet module, which I believe it’s the USP 1100. Naturally, there are disk drives to the left and right of the central control unit, so customers can naturally say ‘I’d like tiered one storage, high-speed fiber channel,’ and they can obviously purchase as much capacity, up to 332 terabytes, for internal storage on high-speed fiber channel drives.
However, if customers say, “I have enough capacity, I don’t need more. I’d simply like to take some of your new functionality that other vendors don’t have, such as logical partitioning, storage-agnostic heterogeneous universal replication, your embedded virtualization layer, some of your advanced business continuity technologies and capabilities, and apply that to my existing assets.” The difference is Hitachi Limited can say, ‘That is fine, we can do that!”
As the animation here shows, we can sell the client our Intelligent Virtual Storage Controller, enabling them to effectively connect that controller to all of their existing storage assets, and obtain all that functionality.
So, for example, this has two angles that you can share, and this depends on your external consistency. This renders our competition into essentially submissive J-bots. They essentially become the back-end disk media to Hitachi’s Intelligent Virtual Storage Controller. For customers, this brings value, because all of a sudden they can increase the utilization of their existing disk arrays. They can attach things behind our Universal Storage Platform or Network Storage Controller and, for example, put stored mainframe data on low-cost SATA disk, like many financial institutions are doing. That’s something they could never do before. So we’re talking about a totally different category of storage. We’re talking about the separation of the intelligence, the controller, from the actual disk drives. This also enables customers to purchase disk drives independent of the controller and ride that price curve of disk… price curve of disk drives much better than if they were forced to buy capacity all at once. So we believe we’ve changed the playing field by separating the commodity media disks from the innovation, the USP and NSC Intelligent Control Unit, required to provide storage data and content services, providing total flexibility to customers.
